blazingly cute

photography by: david wai

Who doesn’t like a classic blazer? Hmm…how about one that is muted green with polka dotted details? Whatever piece it may be, I love incorporating some sort of playfulness into every outfit I wear. In this look, pairing a full ballerina skirt and a unique blazer with vintage elements created just enough fun for my playful mood.

This look is a combination of two trends that have carried over into spring; florals and sportswear. With the sweater made out of a sleek jersey material, this provides a comfortable, athletic feel to the touch. The number 12 graphic and vibrant floral print makes a statement to any casual dress. Add on a baseball cap and if you’re a sneakers girl, wear them! But I love to keep things luxe by throwing on some heels. :]

shoes: Sam Edelman

These shoes by Sam Edelman remind me of a certain Valentino shoe. (Girls you know which ones I’m talking about). Since it’s release in 2010, the leather Valentino Rockstud Pumps have certainly become eye candy in the fashion blogosphere. Starting at around $945 a pair, they are not the most budget friendly shoe for most women. But, if you’re a trendy girl who loves a deal on designer inspired pieces, I’ve got the shoe for you! And at $139.95 a pair, these are hard to pass up! I found these shoes on display at work and truth be told, I nearly died when I saw them. And so, without further ado, I introduce to you the Sam Edelman Ollie T-Strap Pump.

The Sam Edelman’s offer a similar pointed toe silhouette with a three strap buckle closure and a comfortable low heel. There are some minor differences though, but in the end the same look is achieved. The classic Valentino Rockstuds are finished with a high-gloss patent leather, studded with pointed squares and are available in a variety of colors and finishes as well. The Edelman’s are limited to a matte leather in black or ivory/nude and are finished with rounded studs. Differences aside, the Edelman’s are still the best designer inspired shoe I have found. They have become a perfect investment in my own collection and have helped me create a variety of classic and edgy looks dressed up and dressed down.

Sold yet? I think they’re an A+!

Polka dots and stripes (Vday#2)

photography by: David Wai

It’s Valentine’s week day 2! I love mixing patterns with patterns, but you gotta do it right! Keep it simple by mixing patterns within the same color family. To ensure that these patterns don’t clash, incorporate two patterns that are complementary, such as large polka dots and thinner horizontal stripes! The stripes on the waistband runs vertically and breaks up the look. Finish off with a cool toned jeweled necklace and add a grey bag with a slight blue tint!

Literally. Did you just see sasquatch? In commemoration of this winter storm that is going on, here is SASSquatch! I was rummaging through my mother’s closet and found this beast of a fur coat. Weird huh? But I love finding unique pieces in random places and using them to whip up something fabulous! I paired the coat with a lacy cropped top from free people and a gold maxi skirt I found on clearance at forever 21. In the end, this is a glamorously gothic look that even sasquatch could rock.
